500 million on Facebook, 75 million on LinkedIn. Many of these users are actively utilizing social media for business purposes - as increasingly the usage of social media is about communications, collaboration and communities - your users are bringing these tools into the workplace - to connect with customers, prospect new business and collaborate with partners.

A recent survey, published by FaceTime Communications, shows that the use of social networks and social media sites-like Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube-is not only widespread, but has seen a significant shift in usage profiles. Sixty-one percent of end users use these sites at least once a day, up from 51%. Fifteen percent use social networks "constantly throughout the day." Social networking is used by 95% of respondents.

Unlike enterprise applications which are approved and implemented after being carefully reviewed, Web 2.0 and social networking applications can be used by the employee without any input from compliance, IT or security.

  • Outline the compliance requirements for effectively managing these applications
  • Apply granular controls based on an employee's role in your organization
  • Monitor and control what employees are posting to site like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
