July 11, 2012 - The GAO found the selected federal agencies have made progress implementing the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) "Cloud First" policy. Consistent with this policy, each of the seven agencies incorporated cloud computing requirements into their policies and processes. For example, one agency had incorporated a review of its information technology (IT) investment portfolio to identify candidates for a cloud solution into its IT plan.

March 2, 2012 - National Australia Bank is formulating a set of standard service level agreements that may be used by companies worldwide for securing data in public and private cloud applications.

January 26, 2012 - The European Commission is to pump EUR10 million into the formation of a European Cloud Partnership with the aim of drawing up a common set of standards between suppliers and buyers.The initiative was broadcast in a speech to business leaders at Davos by Neelie Kroes, the Commission VP charged with drawing up a digital agenda for the EU.

October 6, 2011 - Cloud computing has both positive and negative information security implications for federal agencies. Potential information security benefits include the use of automation to expedite the implementation of secure configurations on devices; reduced need to carry data on removable media because of broad network access; and low-cost disaster recovery and data storage.
