The Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) has appointed Dan Moore as its new Head of Strategy and Intelligence.

Dan is currently Director of Rail Strategy and Analysis at the Department for Transport (DfT), having previously worked at the Competition and Markets Authority.

Dan will start work at the PSR on 15 January 2024 and will also be part of the PSR’s executive team. Further biographical information can be found below.

In his new role at the PSR Dan will lead the Strategy and Intelligence division which focuses on understanding current and future trends in payments, both in the UK and internationally. This informs the delivery of our five-year Strategy and identifies new areas that the PSR should be focusing on.

Chris Hemsley, the PSR’s Managing Director, said:

“Dan brings a real depth of experience in strategy and analysis, and how public policy can improve outcomes. I’m delighted to welcome him to the PSR.

“The PSR plays a leading role, domestically and globally, on areas such as tackling payment fraud; unlocking the full potential of open banking; and ensuring people can make payments in ways that meet their needs - be that digital or cash.

“Payments is one of the most dynamic, influential and exciting places to be in financial services right now. Dan and his team will help make sure that the PSR is outward facing and focused on the right things at the right time - gathering insight and intelligence so we can continue to deliver good outcomes for everybody that uses a payment system.”

The PSR’s executive team is as follows:

Chris Hemsley - Managing Director
Alex Olive - General Counsel
Dan Moore - Head of Strategy & Intelligence
Kate Fitzgerald - Head of Policy
Natalie Golding - Chief Operating Officer
Oliver Hanmer - Head of Supervision and Compliance Monitoring
