According to a recent report by Huntress, 99% of businesses in the United States and Canada are mid-sized businesses facing cybersecurity challenges. The report reveals that mid-sized businesses are struggling to implement basic cybersecurity measures, including incident response plans, security awareness training, and cyber insurance coverage.
Only 61% of mid-sized businesses have dedicated cybersecurity experts, and 47% do not have an incident response plan. Additionally, 27% of mid-sized businesses reported having no cyber insurance coverage, which makes it more challenging to secure cyber insurance due to the lack of adequate security measures.
Furthermore, the report indicates that many mid-sized businesses are aware of the need for layered cybersecurity strategies but are struggling to implement necessary security solutions. This struggle to implement basic security measures, recruit necessary staff, and deploy necessary tools makes mid-sized businesses more vulnerable to cyberattacks.
The report concludes that mid-sized businesses must improve their cybersecurity strategies to protect their organizations effectively. These improvements include implementing necessary security solutions, recruiting and retaining cybersecurity experts, implementing security awareness training, and securing adequate cyber insurance coverage.
