The Blockchain Security Standards Council (BSSC) has announced the appointment of its first board of directors, featuring key leaders from its founding member organizations. This milestone marks a crucial step in BSSC's mission to establish globally recognized security standards for blockchain technology, aiming to create a safer and more resilient ecosystem.
The board officers include Frieder Weichelt, CISO of Anchorage Digital, as President; Annalea Ilg, CISO of Figment, as Vice President; and Adrienne Allen, Head of Security GRC and Privacy at Coinbase, as Secretary. Other board members are prominent leaders from organizations such as Bastion, Fireblocks, Kraken, and Ribbit Capital. Greg Kohn, a seasoned standards leader, will continue to serve as Executive Director of BSSC. The Council, founded in 2024 by leading companies like Anchorage Digital, Coinbase, Kraken, and others, is focused on developing the first industry standards for blockchain security.
BSSC President Frieder Weichelt highlighted the importance of this development, stating that the diverse expertise of the board members will help drive rapid progress in establishing blockchain security benchmarks. Vice President Annalea Ilg echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that these standards will not only safeguard individual companies but also ensure security across the entire blockchain industry. The BSSC plans to release its initial security standards and audit program by the end of 2024, with the goal of driving broad adoption and innovation in the sector.
