Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire manufacturer, confirmed it is investigating a cyberattack that has disrupted operations at some of its North American facilities. The company reported that its rapid response helped contain the incident early, preventing customer data theft or deep network infiltration. Initial reports identified disruptions at Bridgestone Americas (BSA) facilities in Aiken County, South Carolina, and Joliette, Quebec, sparking concerns about potential supply chain impacts.

Bridgestone Americas, the North American branch of the Japanese multinational, operates 50 production facilities and employs 55,000 staff, representing roughly 43% of the company’s total size. In 2024, BSA generated $12 billion in sales and $1.2 billion in operating profit. Bridgestone stated that its teams are working around the clock to mitigate the effects of the cyber incident, ensuring business continuity and minimizing disruptions to production and distribution.

While the company has not yet confirmed whether ransomware was involved, Bridgestone emphasized that its protocols helped contain the attack before it could compromise customer data or key interfaces. No ransomware groups have claimed responsibility as of now. The incident recalls a 2022 LockBit ransomware attack, which had previously exposed sensitive data from the company, highlighting the ongoing cybersecurity risks facing large multinational manufacturers.
